TEHRAN, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Friday that Tehran expects European Union to compensate for the U.S. "illegal measure" over the 2015 international nuclear deal, official IRNA news agency reported.

The European countries should take on their responsibilities to compensate for the relapse of U.S. sanctions following Washington's exit from the deal, Zarif told reporters in the Austrian capital of Vienna.

What Iran expects from other signatories to the accord is to consider Iranians' nuclear, political and economic rights addressed in the deal, Zarif was quoted as saying.

"We have detailed our demands to the European Union and other signatories of the deal, and we will wait to see to what extend Iran's righteous demands are observed by them," Zarif said.

On Friday, a ministerial meeting on the Iran nuclear deal, also known as Joint Commission of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), will be held in Vienna.

The meeting will be chaired by Federica Mogherini, EU's high representative for foreign affairs and security policy, and will be attended at ministerial level by China, France, Germany, Russia, Britain and Iran.

The JCPOA restricts Iran's nuclear activities in exchange for the easing of the sanctions on the Islamic republic.

U.S. President Donald Trump has urged the International Atomic Energy Agency to widen its inspections to Iran's military sites after his decision on May 8 to quit the deal. The demands have been rejected by Iran.

On Thursday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that the proposal package to be offered by the EU does not secure Iran's interests in the 2015 deal.
